Our Programs

Youth Informed Voices

JOMAS reaches young people with SRHR information through TV, radio, its website, and social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook Spaces. It conducts physical sessions, outreaches in universities, colleges, and schools, and organizes SRHR Conferences targeting youth including those with disabilities. Data is also provided to enable young people to participate in online SRHR sessions.

Primary Education On Sexuality

JOMAS provides age-appropriate, comprehensive, and scientifically accurate SRHR information through life skills and sexuality education workshops for adolescents and young people. It offers professional counseling and treatment for young people experiencing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), while training service personnel in counseling skills and supervision. JOMAS orients both health workers and non-health workers on young people's SRHR needs and conducts teacher training sessions on Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

Joint Talk Program

JOMAS engages Parliament to amend laws hindering SRHR access and educates young people on their rights and existing policies. It works with the Ministry of Education and Sports to finalize and disseminate the National Sexuality Education Framework (NSEF), dialoguing with religious and cultural leaders to build consensus. JOMAS organizes annual intergenerational dialogues and partners with the Ministry of Gender to disseminate parenting guidelines and teenage pregnancy prevention strategies. It also conducts advocacy with government leaders, including the Minister for East Africa Affairs, to promote the East and Southern Africa (ESA) commitment and endorse the East Africa Community SRH Bill, mobilizing civil society organizations for collective advocacy.

Women Arise Program

JOMAS identifies and trains GBV survivors and champions on prevention, protection, and response mechanisms, equipping them with leadership, advocacy, and community mobilization skills. It educates women and girls on laws, policies, GBV referral mechanisms, and pathway response services. JOMAS empowers survivors economically through micro-enterprise training, establishing Village Loans and Savings Associations (VLSA), providing quarterly livelihood enhancement, and distributing startup kits. It also trains community paralegals to document GBV cases and support survivors in accessing services. Additionally, JOMAS develops vocational skills for young people including those with disabilities, provides startup kits and vocational tools, conducts financial literacy training, and offers mental health counseling for comprehensive psychosocial and economic empowerment.
